Are you known for having a good poker face? If not, then here are a couple of examples that show why a good poker face is so important to your game. Imagine you have been dealt a fantastic hand and you accidentally reveal this by smiling or grinning to yourself. The other players will of course known the kind of cards you’ve got and might just fold.
If the opposite happens and you’re dealt a bad hand and you show your unhappiness, the others may guess that you’ve been dealt a bad hand and start raising the bets. It is important to keep a neutral expression on your face throughout the entire game of poker and this could involve a long and hard internal struggle. If you are lazy and let your real feelings slip, even for just a split second, you can be sure that the other players will notice.
Once you have gained control of your facial expressions and can hide your true emotions, you can then have some fun and misguide the other players into parting with their cash. You can do this by making expressions that are actually the opposite of how you are really feeling. For example, if you get dealt a spectacular hand, and you want to mislead the other players, you can show just a tab bit of an angry expression in an attempt to misguide them.
